Garbage In = Garbage Out
Prior to starting the custom data conversion process with your new membership management software it is a great idea to do a little data clean-up in your current software. Although much clean-up can be done after moving to ChamberMaster, many find the time prior to conversion most convenient. These are a few things that can be taken care of before your conversion date.
- Make sure company names match. This avoids a great deal of duplication of member records. The conversion process will create duplicate records if something as small as a comma or period is different between records.
- Review billing details and transaction history for all members. Confirm that all open balances are correct. It is especially important to review billing data that came into your software from previous conversions.
- Confirm that all data fields are filled in as completely as possible to avoid manual data entry after the conversion is complete. Run reports to look for gaps or data errors.
