St. John's Northwestern Military Academy celebrated its 125th anniversary in September 2009
Just north of historic downtown Delafield and across from beautiful Lake Nagawicka, visitors will find a gem in St. John's Northwestern Military Academy (SJNMA), a premier boarding and day school for boys in grades 7-12. Established in 1884, SJNMA was founded on time-honored values and traditions such as honesty, integrity, duty, honor and country. Dedicated to the preparation for continued academic and life successes, the school offers a culture that allows its cadets to take full advantage of a unique learning community where leadership principles permeate Academy life.
Positioned on 110 acres of park-like property with buildings that resemble English Gothic architecture, the campus includes two academic buildings with state-of-the art science facilities, a library, dining hall, chapel, health center, student activity center, gymnasium and pool, athletic fields and a nine-hole golf course, which the public is invited to use. Several sites on campus are available for rental including Noble Victory Memorial Chapel, Farrand Hall Gymnasium, Gerber Pool, Mouso Hall, Welles Dining Hall and the residence halls.
Annual enrollment is approximately 300 with students from across the United States and numerous foreign countries. Celebrated graduates include Daniel Gerber S1916, founder of Gerber Baby Foods; George Kennan S1921, a U.S. Ambassador who was integral in the post-war reconstruction of Europe; and Martín Torrijos Espino S1981, former President of Panama.
